The Automatic transmission oil pump intake screen, typically made of a fine mesh material, is located at the inlet of the transmission pump and acts as a barrier to prevent these contaminants from entering the pump. As the transmission fluid flows through the screen, it traps and collects any particles that could potentially cause harm to the transmission.
